The Wild Coast of Western Eyre Peninsula

with Whale-watching

This 6-day tour combines exquisite seafood, breath-taking coastal scenery and world class wildlife encounters is sure to leave you fascinated, inspired and reconnected with nature.

Imagine beautiful beaches all to yourself, huge limestone cliffs that drop dramatically into the Southern Ocean and once in a lifetime wildlife encounters from the cute and cuddly koala’s of Mirkirra Station to swimming with wild sealions and dolphins.

The Eyre Peninsula is known as ‘Australia’s Seafood Frontier’ with some of the worlds most sought after seafood caught here and you will be sampling a lot of it. 

We will welcome you to spend a night at Coodlie Park Wilderness Retreat, where you can do some star gazing off the spectacular southern skies and spot native wildlife on a nocturnal wildlife tour. Your guide will share passion and knowledge of this world class destination with you and show you all the hidden gems you would never otherwise find! This 6-day tour starts from your accommodation in Adelaide with all transfers and flights to Port Lincoln and from Ceduna included.

Optional Extra:

While everything on the tour is included in the price such as transport, accommodation, food, entry into national park fees, there is an optional extra experience not included in the price that you can choose to do.

Head of the Bight Marine Park Scenic Flight - A$275 pp (Operates July to September. Minimum 2 Maximum 3 guests)

Get a whole new perspective of this incredible landscape taking a 45-minute scenic flight over the Head of the Great Australian Bight and outback to the Nullarbor

Important information:

  • Flights are operated by Rex and depart Adelaide at 8.15am – arriving 9.05am and returning from Ceduna on day six at 11.50am back to Adelaide, Your airport transfer will have you arriving back at your accommodation around 1pm
  • Rex (a local regional airline) has a 15kg luggage restriction per person plus one 7kg carry on.
  • It is highly recommended that you pre-book the optional activities at time of booking as they are very popular and can’t be booked on the day. We can reserve your place upon booking and you pay the operator locally.
  • Any Optional Extra Experiences are outsourced and therefore the terms and conditions of each operator apply
  • Please ensure you book your Adelaide accommodation prior to departure
  • Dietary requirements can be catered for but must be advised at time of booking
  • In the event a person is travelling solo they will be given the option to pay the Single Supplement rate
  • A minimum of two people is required to operate the tour and in the unlikely event of only one person is confirmed the options available are: a) a Single Supplement fee is charged to run the tour with only one person or b) we reserve the right to cancel the tour and offer a refund or to arrange an alternative operator if possible.
  • Sea Lions does not operate from June to August so there is an alternative itinerary for this day during these months

  • Day 1

    Adelaide to Port Lincoln

    You will be transferred from your Adelaide accommodation bright and early to catch your flight to Port Lincoln where your expert guide will greet you. After a little exploring, it’s time for your first taste of ‘Australia’s Seafood Capital’, joining a ‘Seafood Lovers’ behind the scenes tour of the Fresh Fish Place. This one-hour experience includes an array of fresh seafood tastings and continues with a tantalising seafood lunch.

    Feeling satisfied, it’s time to relax on the eco-friendly ‘Telsa’, an electric canal cruiser. Meander through the Lincoln Cove Marina waterways with local legend Fred. He will share 40 years’ worth of knowledge and a few sailor’s tales too. Explore some breathtaking coastline including a scenic drive along iconic Whalers Way and pop into Mikkira Station to get up close and personal with wild koalas. After a wonderful first day, settle in for an exquisite culinary dining experience at the award-winning Del Giorno’s. Of course matched with some fine wine from the Eyre Peninsula. Driving distance today is around 150km and you’ll spend the night at the Port Lincoln Hotel..

  • Day 2

    Coffin Bay to Coodlie Park

    Mosey up the coast towards the seaside town of Coffin Bay where you’ll take off your shoes for a stroll along stunning Golden Island beach. Next, board the boat with ‘Pure Coffin Bay Oysters’ for a wonderful harvest experience. Learn to shuck and eat your own Coffin Bay oysters, understanding why they are recognised as the world’s best! Enjoy a scrumptious Chefs selection for lunch at 1802 Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Sample more fresh seafood including King George Whiting, a favourite fish of the region.

    After lunch, head up the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula exploring beautiful places such as Locks Well, Talia Caves and Elliston. Come late afternoon, pull into Coodlie Park Farm Retreat for a home cooked meal with the owners of the Retreat. After dinner, head out on a Nocturnal Wildlife and Stargazing Tour giving you a chance to see the beautiful southern skies and native wildlife at its most active. Tonight sleep in a 3.5 star fully self-contained cottage at Coodlie Park.

  • Day 3

    Baird Bay and Ceduna

    It’s up early today for an inspiring coastal walk around Venus Bay where you’ll often see dolphins surfing in the waves. Next, it’s time for one of the best interactive wildlife experiences in the world, swimming with wild Australian sea lions and bottlenose dolphins in sheltered Baird Bay. ($180 Optional) The puppy dogs of the sea will welcome you with great excitement and the magical dolphins won’t disappoint either. If it is not operating, or you’d rather stay on dry land, we offer an alternative itinerary.

    After a yummy lunch at Bay Funktion in Streaky Bay, we’ll spend time at Perlubie Beach. As you take in the pristine landscape, you’ll sample fresh oysters and local wines. Check into your 5-Star Eco Villa’s at Shelly Beach in the seaside town of Ceduna where you’ll relax with a glass of wine and feast on a scrumptious platter of local produce while you watch the sunset over the ocean. Today we travel 180km.

  • Day 4

    Great Australian Bight

    Enjoy breakfast on the Ceduna foreshore before heading to Fowlers Bay to board a two-hour Whale and Wildlife Oceanic Cruise. A highlight of the tour, you will witness the great spectacle of Southern Right Whales sheltering with their young and see other species of aquatic marine life and birdlife. Back on land enjoy some gourmet fish and chips while we do a little more whale watching from the foreshore. In the afternoon stop at Penong to hear how the town became home to so many windmills. Next, we’ll make our way along the iconic and colourful “Watermelon Ave” to the world- famous surf break – Cactus Beach. Be wowed by the endless deserted white sandy beaches of Point Sinclair and pop into a country pub for a beer and yarn with the locals. Today drive 250km and stay back in your Luxury Spa Villa at Shelly in Ceduna.

  • Day 5

    Head of Bight and the Nullarbor

    This morning it’s up bright and early to take in the jaw dropping beauty of the Head of Bight and Bunda Cliffs. Stand on the ‘Edge of Australia’ at an awe-inspiring coastal lookout. Visit the Head of Bight Whale Centre to learn more about these incredible creatures. Have a bite of lunch as you breathe deep and take in the in magic all around you. Next, we highly recommend the Optional Extra of a 45-minute Scenic Flight over the Great Australian Bight. This gives you the chance to spot many more whales from above, as well as the vast outback of the Nullarbor. This afternoon you will discover an iconic outback roadhouse and the karst limestone caves along the Nullarbor.

    Tantalise your taste buds at our pop-up restaurant, enjoying some seafood and local wine over a lovely Eyre Peninsula sunset. Then it’s time to return back to Ceduna Enjoy a meal at the Ceduna Foreshore Hotel.

  • Day 6

    Ceduna to Adelaide

    As your journey draws to an end, we’ll enjoy a morning coastal walk along Shelly Beach followed by a gourmet breakfast at the Blue Dolphin café. Your guide will drop you back at the airport for your 11.50am flight back to Adelaide. Your airport transfer will have you back to your accommodation at around 1pm.
