2-Day Lake Eyre by Air - Guided Air Safari
Lake Eyre -Kati Thanda usually appears as a very vast, salt-encrusted basin however with the predicted heavy rainfalls expected during the wet season in northern Australia, we may once again be lucky enough to see plenty of water in the western river systems that flow into Lake Eyre.
Graham will be on board all our Lake Eyre flights providing clear and interesting commentary. Graham’s knowledge and practical experiences are the ‘point of difference’ when you see Lake Eyre with Travel West. Flying in an ATR72 twin engine, high-winged plane, this plane is toilet equipped with two seats either side of a central aisle. Get on board with Graham, who has been to Lake Eyre over 70 times.

7am Check-in at Brisbane Domestic Terminal, Brisbane Airport to board your flight for an unforgettable two days.
8.00am Depart Brisbane and fly over the Darling Downs agricultural farmlands and into mulga country. Travel west over the Warrego, Paroo & Bulloo Rivers, Cooper Creek and the Diamantina River before landing in Birdsville, where you will have approximately 1.5 hrs to look around – check out the iconic Birdsville Hotel, the visitor information centre and perhaps even drop over to the Birdsville Bakery and try a curried camel pie. Lunch will be served on the aircraft as you leave Birdsville. Along the way, Graham will provide comprehensive commentary about the western river systems that make up the Lake Eyre Basin and some other interesting history. Departing Birdsville, we turn south flying over Goyder Lagoon, see the Simpson Desert and Lake Eyre. Graham will be telling you some interesting facts as we look at this truly amazing expansive area. Continue flying south over Lake Torrens, Graham will point out Lake Gardner, as well as the old Leigh Creek Coalfields and Wilpena Pound before landing in Port Augusta for the night. Land in Port Augusta and transfer to your accommodation. 2-course dinner this evening at the Hannahville Hotel.
A continental breakfast is included this morning in your rooms before a brief town tour and then transfer to our plane and begin our return to Brisbane via Charleville. Fly over the Marree Man, Lake Eyre South & parts Lake Eyre North again before following Cooper Creek and then into Charleville for a quick lunch before heading back to Brisbane. 5.00pm (Approximately) Arrive back at Brisbane Domestic Airport Terminal.
